The countries of the Middle East are currently suffering from the worsening situation of democracy, as there is not yet a stable democratic model in the Middle East that can be presented as an example to be followed globally. Middle Eastern democracies are characterized by maneuvering and circumvention of the rules of democracy, which leads to the emergence of nominal democracies, which provide unreal political competition that It does not reflect the renaissance aspirations of its peoples, and is also dominated by political tendencies characterized by hatred, racism and the seizure of power. From this point of view, this study examines the impact of importing and applying democracy with Western features on political life in the Middle East. The study argues for the need to establish a democratic system for the Middle East that is commensurate with the culture of its countries and its security, political, economic and social conditions.
This research consists of several axes, the first axis reviews the definition of democracy and the extent of its conceptual stability, the second axis contains the history of the emergence of democracy in ancient Athens, then the study moves to the third axis, which reviews modern Western democracy by examining the conditions of its emergence and development, and the fourth axis explores the emergence and formation of Democracy in the countries of the Middle East and then arrives at the status of the current democracy in the Middle East, and the fifth axis extracts the differences between Western democracy and the current Middle Eastern democracy, and the sixth axis presents proposed mechanisms to ensure the implementation of democracy in a framework of specificity and immediate Middle Eastern conditions to suit the peoples and geography of the region and its cultures.
